[Class 25.] A chimney cowl comprises a shell e with vertical walls surrounding the upper end of a chimney shaft b, a horizontal coverplate f fixed within the shell and a horizontal flange h equal in size to the lower opening of the shell and mounted on the shaft b below the shell. The cover-plate f is preferably provided with a flap g for cleaning purposes. The shell and the cover-plate are carried by four supports c attached to the upper end of the chimney shaft and bent outwardly into V-shape, the shell being attached to the supports at the angle portions d and the cover-plate at the upper ends.
