Abstract

279,237. Ludlow, E. R. Oct. 8, 1926. Ventilators for moving vehicles comprise a hollow metal casing having one of its four sides open and protected by an inclined deflecting shield j which is spaced from and parallel to the opening. An opening, preferably fitted with a tube f, is arranged in the base of the casing and a baffle g may be provided adjacent such opening. The casing, which may taper in depth towards one end, consists of a base a, two straight or curved sides b and a curved top c secured at one end to the base, and the opening d may be disposed either towards or at right-angles to the direction of motion. A baffle plate h extends across the opening near the bottom, and such opening is inclined by reason of the sides b being undercut at their ends. The curved baffle j is formed as an extension of the base beyond the opening d.
