Abstract
412,360. Chimney &c. tops. LOUDON, W. F., Allanton Fireclay Works, Morningside Road, Newmains, Lanarkshire. March 22, 1933, No. 8617. [Class 25.] A chimney or like pot of the type having one or more vertical apertures or slots 4 in the side walls, the parts 5 of the walls between the apertures being concave, is formed with a flat open upper end adapted to receive a removable cap 7 having downwardly extending lugs 8 which are stepped inwardly as at 12 so as to sit on the flat end of the pot leaving smoke outlets 9 between the pot, cap and lugs. In the form shown, the pot has four equally spaced vertical apertures 4 and the concave parts 5 of the walls are curved outwardly at 5a to an enlarged base 6. The upper surface of the cap is tapered or streamlined to deflect downdraught. Upwardly deflecting baffles 10 may be provided at the lower end of each aperture 4.
