Abstract
381,121. Brushes combined with vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd., Perivale, Greenford, Middlesex.-(Assignees of White, H. B. ; 1220, 17th Street, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) May 5, 1932, No. 12983. Convention date, July 18, 1931. [Class 19.] The rotary agitator of a vacuum cleaner is provided with beater ribs 12 and with brushes fitting in radial grooves. The ends of the brush back are formed with lugs 21, 22 at different radial distances from the axis; the lug 21 engages a shoulder 16, while the lug 22 engages a corresponding shoulder 15. By reversing the brush end to end, the lug 21 enters a recess 17, causing the brush to assume a position still parallel with but at a greater distance from the axis. Slots 25 allow a screwdriver to be used to shift the brush into position ; it is forced outwards by a spring 23.
