480,141. Vacuum cleaners. AIR-WAY ELECTRIC APPLIANCE CORPORATION. Feb. 19, 1937, No. 4980. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1936. [Class 8 (i)] The tubular rotary agitator of a vacuum cleaner has brush elements secured in longitudinal slots in it by clips 20 which engage the back of the brush and extend diametrically across the tube to be secured at the opposite side by a screw 26. In a modification, the clip is replaced by a long screw which passes across the tube. Wings 18 on the brush support it on the tube surface. Beater elements of metal-shod rubber are arranged or the tube in staggered relation to the brushes.
