Abstract
486,786. Beating carpets. HARVEY, C. G. Dec. 11, 1936, No. 34022. Addition to 456,692. [Class 138 (i)] The apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by the provision of reciprocating brushes H arranged above the ruffling shaft G, so that the carpet can be brushed on the pile or the back while passing over the suction slot J. The brushes are carried bv a rail A which can be reciprocated along a. guideway K by an eccentric D. The guideway is pivoted to the beater casing C, so that it can be turned to an inoperative position. Hence the brushes H can be used in conjunction with, or independently of, the brush N.
