[Class 8 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIV] The rotary brush shaft 2 of a vacuum cleaner carries, directly or on bearing housings 4, a rectangular plate 8 eccentrically mounted so that its flanged edges 10 are at different distances from the shaft axis. The height of the brush from the surface being cleaned is adjusted to compensate for wear of the bristles by bringing one or other of these edges into engagement with a fixed ledge such as the part 9 of a bracket carrying spring clips which hold the bearing housings 4.
