Abstract

516,291. Vacuum cleaners. LEYLAND, H., HOWARTH, G., and PROBERT, F. June 28, 1938, No. 19071. [Class 8 (i)] The rotary agitator of a vacuum cleaner carries a rib or ribs 5 curved along its length so as to present a concave or convex face in the direction of rotation, the ends of the rib being in a line parallel with the axis. The ribs may be formed on a tube screwed to bosses 3, 9 on the agitator shaft, and if the agitator has a pulley in the middle, the rib ends of the two parts may be in line and their curves may be opposite. The casting is apertured for the projection of brushes 7.
