Abstract

[Class 8 (i)] A dusting tool for a suction cleaner comprises a brush of ring form with a rigid back B, a furniture guard C of resilient material surrounding the brush, and a skirt B<2> within the bristles. The guard C and skirt B<2> extend towards but terminate short of the free ends of the bristles B<1>. The air conduit mouth A engages the flange C<2> of the guard C which is of rubber, &c., and is sprung over the brush and engages by means of a skirt C<3> the bristles. A space may be provided between the skirt and bristles towards the point of anchorage of the bristles. The brush shown has an elongated narrow mouth with rounded corners and the parts are secured by internal screws D. In a modification, the inner skirt is longer, is made of hard rubber, &c., is separate from the brush, and is anchored by a clamping- ring engaging a flange thereon, the brush being mounted between resilient flanges on the guard and skirt. In a further construction, Fig. 4, the skirt K is secured by a clamping- plate L moulded into the material. In this construction, comprising a furniture brush, the bristles are shorter and the skirt K extends nearly to their ends. A floor brush, Fig. 2, a dusting brush, and a furniture brush, of different shapes and sizes but which co-operate with the same fitting, are described.
