Abstract

438,284. Hose couplings. HOOVER, Ltd., Perivale, Middlesex.-(Hoover Co. ; North Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Aug. 16, 1934, No. 23624. [Class 99 (i)] A suction cleaner is connected to a dusting tool by a hose A which is provided with rigid tubes B, C at its ends, the tube C being secured to the hose in a swivelling manner by a ring E, Figs. 2 and 3, constituted by a flat strip of spring steel. As shown the ring E is located in a groove C<1> formed in the tube C and is provided with re-entrant arcs E<1> to engage a groove D<1> in an inner tube D which is cemented within the hose end and is further secured to the hose by a rubber ring G cemented to both parts, air tightness between the tubes C, D being effected by a packing ring F, Each of the tubes B, C may be provided with a lock, Fig. 4, comprising a spring blade J for securing it to the cleaner or dusting tool, the blade J being located in a housing H within the tube and being provided with an operating knob K<2> at its free end and also a securing hook K<1>.
