Abstract
392,379. Tube couplings. AIR-WAY ELECTRIC APPLIANCE CORPORATION, 2101, Auburn Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. -(Assignees of Riebel, F. and Dow, D. M. ; c/o Air-Way Electric Appliance Corporation, Auburn Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A.) July 7, 1932, No. 19285. Convention date, July 8, 1931. [Class 99 (i).] In a vacuum cleaner, the tubular handle 1 which serves as an air conduit is coupled to the air inlet or socket 2 of the fan casing 4 by a metal ferrule 6, into which one end of the handle, reinforced by an internal metal sleeve 9, is forcibly inserted, and which is formed with an extension 8 adapted to be secured within said socket. The free end of the socket may be split or slotted and provided with a contracting screw 11, and the socket may also be fitted with a set-screw 12 to engage the ferrule extension 8. Rotation of the handle is prevented by lugs 14 on the ferrule engaging a shoulder 20 on the casing outlet 3.
