Abstract

480,959. Pipe couplings. SMITH, S. H., and SMITH, C. H. Sept. 1, 1936, No. 23893. [Class 99 (i)] A flexible hose is revolubly coupled to the end of a vacuum cleaner by a grooved ferrule on the hose pushec into a sleeve on the end o the cleaner, the ferrule being held by a spring bar 10 an chored at one end to the sleeve and manually operated at the other, which crosses the sleeve tangentially and engages the groove in the ferrule. The vacuum cleaner comprises a cylindrical casing enclosing motor fan and dust bag. The Provisional Specification states that spring-pressed balls may replace the spring bar 10.
