Abstract

373,072. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd., 229, Regent Street, London.-(Hoover Co. ; North Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Dec. 4, 1931, No. 33580. [Class 8 (i).] A vacuum cleaner comprises, in addition to a floor nozzle 1, a curtain &c. cleaning tool 12 and hose 9 in permanent connection with the fan chamber and accommodated in the handle 7 while floor cleaning is in progress; the handle may be of U form in general outline, and of channel section. The hose and tool are connected by spring clips to the ends of a rigid tube 11 ; the hose is connected at its other end to' the tubular lower end of the handle which carries a sleeve rotatable on a conduit 16 leading to the fan chamber. A valve 19, Fig. 5, allows either the floor nozzle or the curtain tool to be cut off from the fan. The top of the dust bag 6 is reinforced by a cross member 24 carrying spring-pressed pins 25 adapted to engage bores in blocks sliding within channel members mounted on the handle ; the blocks are raised by spring pressure, tensioning the bag.
