Abstract

381,426. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd., Perivale, Greenford, Middlesex.- Assignees of White, H. B.; 1220, 17th Street, N.W. Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Jan. 15, 1932, No. 1246. Convention date, July 31, 1931. [Classes 8 (i), 8 (ii), and 99 (i).] In a vacuum cleaner of the type in which the handle C is connected to the casing A by a fork joint, flexure of the bag F is avoided by supporting the bag by means of a rod J, the bag being connected to the casing by a rubber bellows K. The bag-clamping ring L is connected by a bayonet-joint to a member G, which is pivoted by means of a pin G<2> to a plate H secured to the casing A. The bellows K is secured to the plate H and to the member G by means of split rings K<2>, K<3> sprung into grooves. The rod J is secured in a socket G<1> on the member G and the other end of the rod is connected to the handle C by a spring J<2>. Alternatively a bracket M<1>, Fig. 7, on the rod, passing through a slot in the handle, carries rollers M running on a track inside the handle.
