Abstract

380,709. Valves ; valve gear. FIAT SOC. ANON., 250, Viz Nizza, Turin, Italy. Feb. 16, 1932, No. 4592. Convention date, June 30, 1931. Addition to 380,688. [Class 7 (vi).] In valve gear as described in the parent Specification, wherein pairs of cams actuate pairs of inlet and exhaust valves from a single cam shaft, each pair of cams acting on a cross piece guided by a central stem suspended from the cam shaft, the valve springs, instead of being arranged around the valve stems, are disposed around the central guide stems, so that one set of springs serves for each pair of valves. The Figure shows a pair of inlet valves 3 actuated by a pair of cams 4 through a cross piece 6 guided by a central stem 7, around which are arranged the valve springs 10a, 10b, 10c. The lower ends of the springs seat against the cylinder head, and the upper ends against a washer 12, to which the valve stems are connected by ball-and-socket connections 14.
