Abstract

380,028. Door stops. ROWLEY, Ltd., W. and ROWLEY, W. L., 53, Allesley Street, Aston Road, Birmingham. May 10, 1932, No. 13389. [Class 65 (i).] In a door stop comprising a socket in which is slidably mounted a spring-supported stop member, the position of which can be adjusted by screw means, the stop member is provided with a central stem passing through a nut which is held against rotation but is permitted to slide in the direction of the axis of the stem up to or away from a suitable abutment. In Fig. 2, a dome-shaped stop member 8 slides in a socket 1 under the influence of a spring, and has a central screw-threaded stem 11 passing through the bottom of the socket and engaging a flatsided nut 14 which slides between two lugs 5 on the underside of the socket member and limits the upward movement of the stop member by engaging the underside of the socket member ; the position of the nut on the stem is adjusted by rotating the stop member. On the bottom edge of the door is a plate 17 having a recess to engage the stop as shown, the stop member being depressed as the edge of the door rides over it; one edge of the plate is cut away slightly, as shown in Fig. 1, to facilitate engagement of the door with the stop.
