Abstract

390,695. Valve components. FISSLER, A., 4, The Promenade, Ilfracombe. July 22, 1932, No. 20683. [Class 135.] Closure members, lift.-A screw-down lift closure comprises a non-rotatable jumper 5 having a recessed underside fitted with a resilient and compressible (cork &c.) liner 9, and a ductile metal (lead &c.) facing disc 10 which is initially of greater diameter than the recess. When first screwed down the metal disc is forced tightly into the recess and compresses the liner 9. At the same time the outer surface of the metal disc is shaped to the configuration of the stepped seating 2. The jumper is prevented from rotating by a fin 14 on the casing engaging keyways in the jumper. The recess in the jumper is formed, as shown, with an annular groove 7 near the central stem 8 ; on the latter is disposed a brass disc 11 with inclined edge 12 with a compressing and securing nut 13.
