Abstract
399,429. Bottle stoppers. HUNTING, D. M. and HILLING, J. O., 165, New Bond Street, London. April 26, 1933, No. 12214. [Class 125 (iii).] An expansible stopper for bottles &c. comprises a stopper piece B formed or provided with a screw 1 engaging an internallyscrewed plunger member 2, an intermediate member 4 adapted when the stopper is in position to enter into positive engagement with the bottle, said intermediate member having a central bore for the passage of the screw and being provided with a splined portion for the reception of the plunger, means connecting the intermediate member with the screw which permits relative rotation therebetween and also with the plunger but permitting only a limited axial sliding of the plunger, and a resilient washer C between the intermediate member and the plunger. As shown the screw 1 is integral with or secured to a plate 6 screwed to the piece B, the member 4 has a flange 9 from the underside of which project sectors 10 which fit into grooves in the bottle mouth, and the connecting means consist of a screw (not shown) projecting into an annular groove 8, and two screws 17 engaging flats on the plunger.
