Abstract

592,564. Bottle &c. closures. FASSOPLY, Ltd., and HOLT, T. W. May 22, 1945, No. 12770. [Class 125 (iii)] A bottle &c. closure comprises a stopper having a head and a stem b, screw-threaded at least at its end, a rubber &c. sleeve c fitting over the stem but leaving a screw-in portion exposed, the stopper co-operating with a screwed and recessed bottle &c. neck a presenting a shoulder d, the sleeve being longer than the recessed end of the neck so that upon screwing down the stopper, the sleeve is compressed between the head of the stopper and the shoulder d thereby expanding it laterally and making a tight joint. The stopper stem barrel, which may be cylindrical or tapered, is preferably of greater diameter than the screwed portion of the stem to present a shoulder limiting the amount by which the stopper may be screwed in.
