Abstract

383,700. Door stops and holders. DEVERSON, P. W., 30, Grandison Road, Worcester Park, Surrey. Sept. 30, 1931, No. 27188. [Class 65 (i).] A door stop has a circular cap or disc, of springy material or with auxiliary springing, with a hollow to engage a knob fixed on the door to hold the door open. In the simplest form, Fig. 6, a hollow disc a of springy metal is fixed on the top of the stop p by the screw which fastens the stop to the floor, a slight clearance being provided between the disc and stop to allow the edge of the disc to bend as the knob d on the door passes over it ; in a modification, the disc may be mounted directly on a stop of resilient material, the stop providing the necessary springiness. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the cap n, of rigid material, is bevelled underneath to rock on the stop as the knob d engages it, and the necessary resilience to hold the door is provided by forming the stop in two telescoping parts with an internal spring. The upward movement of the upper part of the stop is limited by a spring lug g engaging a slot h in the lower part ; a number of slots h of various lengths may be provided, so that by engaging the lug g with the appropriate slot the height of the stop may be varied. Fig. 2 also shows means whereby the height of the knob d may be adjusted on the door, the knob being fixed to a serrated slotted plate attached by screws to a baseplate on the door. In a modification, the hollow disc forms part of the upper portion of the stop, or may form a screw cap for the stop, being thus adjustable in the upper stop part by screwing in or out; the lower stop member may also be adjustable by screwing into a base.
