378,092. Bearing brackets. LJUNGSTROM, B., 83, Linnegatan, Stockholm. May 8, 1931, No. 13682. Convention date, March 24. [Class 12 (i).] In power transmission mechanism for motor vehicles wherein the change speed gear 4 is housed in the lower part 1 of the engine crank case, the transmission shaft 3 carrying the driving pinion 6 from the gear 4 is mounted in a bearing which is supported in a triangular steel frame 11 separate from the crank case. As shown in Fig. 1, the frame 11 is integral with a bearing support 17 in which the driven wheel 7 is mounted ; the frame and support 11, 17 are attached to the case 1 by bolts 12, 13, 18. The frame has strengthening webs 14 projecting on each side. In a modification the integral frame and support are cast in the crank case. In another construction the frame and support are separate the former being cast in the case. As modified for use with a final spur wheel drive, the frame 11, Fig. 7, is held in place by bolts 12.
