Abstract

377,394. Electric incandescent lamps. DEGHENGHI, M., 43, Landstrasse, Gurtel, Vienna. June 25, 1931, No. 18422. [Class 39 (ii).] A support for a filament of a tubular lamp consists of wires of high melting-point twisted together and formed into a scroll shape 5, Fig. 1. Wires of molybdenum &c. from spools 1, 2, 3, Fig. 2, are twisted together and an additional wire from a spool 7 is arranged to have twisted portions 8 and straight portions 9. A twister 14, mandrel 15, and jaws 16, 17, produce the scroll shape. The parts 10 are cut and the severed ends 11, Fig. 1, upturned. The wire is passed through a V-shaped metal plate (not shown) and the ends 11 project through a slot in this plate and have glass beads 12 sealed into them. The filament 18, which is preferably of twisted formation, has molybdenum wires twisted round at intervals, the ends 13 of which are sealed into the beads. The support may be used as the return current lead.
