Abstract
377,345. Wire resistances. BRITISH ELECTRIC TRANSFORMERS CO., Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, SMITH, R., 32, Tenterden Road, Croydon, and BROWN, W. H., 19, Rosemary Avenue, Hounslow West, Middlesex. May 15, 1931, No. 14415. [Class 37.] Heating elements 1, Fig. 1, comprising resistance wire wound on rods or strips, are mounted on a frame 2, adjacent elements being connected at one end by a length of wire la passing round a lug 2a on the frame ; at the other ends of the elements extended plain portions 1b of the resistance wire are anchored to a refractory insulating bar 3 and carried to terminals clear of the frame, to prevent heating of the terminals. The wires 1b are passed through slots 6 in the upper half of the bar 3, over a rib 5, and round depending rectangular lugs 10, Fig. 2, formed in the lower half of the bar by pairs of slots 8, 8a extending through the greater part of the thickness of the bar 3 and connected by a slot extending partly through the bar 3 from its rear face. Alternatively the slots 8, 8a and the rear connecting slot may be replaced by a hole 12, Fig. 8, and slot 13.
