Abstract

374,970. Cardboard boxes. GOUGH, H. T. W., Kia-ora, Sandhills Lane, Barnt Green, Worcestershire. Sept. 4, 1931, No. 8552. [Class 18.] A collapsable cardboard box has inwardly folding ends or sides creased or scored down the middle and an upwardly folding bottom creased across the middle in line with the end or side creases and along lines extending from said middle crease to the corners of the box, the box being erected from the collapsed condition by straightening a string or band threaded through holes in the bottom of the box, adjacent the middle crease. As shown in Fig. 1, the ends 3 are creas d along lines a and the bottom 1 along lines b, c, the string 9 being threaded through the holes 10a adjacent the line band through holes 10 in the bottom of the box. When the string is pulled to erect the collapsed box, Fig. 4, the middle part of the folded box bottom is forced downwards and the box opened. The sides 2 may be creased instead of the ends, in which case the lid 4 is centrally creased in line with the creases in the sides and bottom.
