Abstract

211,560. Sadler, E. Nov. 20, 1922. Fancy folding boxes; contents, viewing.-A folding box for confectionery &c. comprises a top blank A having straight edges A<3> along which it is united to a second blank B of the same shape, each blank being creased near two or more edges to form marginal portions A<1>, B<1>, the creases being of such shape that when the edges of the joined blanks are pressed inwardly the central portions are spread outwardly to form a rigid box. The marginal portions form inwardlycurved side walls and act as toggle levers to maintain the box in its erect position. The blanks A, B may be formed from a single blank folded upon itself. The corners of the blanks may be cut away so that when the box is erected the cutaway edges are brought together to produce a relatively deep box without the sharp corners shown in Fig. 2. A hinged lid C may be provided in the top blank, and the lid or any other portion of the box may be transparent. The box is adapted to be converted into various fancy shapes.
