Folding boxes.-A box having a pair of opposite sides formed with diagonal creases each extending in a direction opposite to the other, so that the sides, base and lid can be collapsed to form a substantially flat unit, has stiffening or reinforcing members which maintain the box rigid when erected and which, with the sides, can be erected by a single operation and remain rigid thereafter. The reinforcing members e, f form continuations, and are hinged to the upper edges h of the sides e<1>, f<1>, the diagonal creases i extending across both sides and reinforcements; the base is creased at j and the sides e<1>, f<1> are secured to the front d and back b by flaps p. Cord handles l pass through perforations m in the sides and reinforcements, and by pulling upon the cords the box is opened from the collapsed condition, Fig. 5, to the erect condition, Fig. 3 with the reinforcements folded down over the inside of the sides and flaps o, extending from the reinforcements, folded along the lines g to fit snugly in the bottom corners of the box and thus maintain the box rigid for use.
