Abstract
374,712. Laminated springs. SPRONG, W. J., 719, Irving Street, Alhambra, and UNITED STATES SPRING & BUMPER CO., 1120, South Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, both in California, U.S.A. Sept. 5, 1931, No. 24935. [Class 108 (iii).] The usual pin and eye connection between the main leaf of a laminated spring and the frame of a vehicle is replaced by a member 36 bolted to the spring and pivoted to the frame, the member being connected to the main leaf 12 by bolts 34 and formed with lugs 44 which extend downwards on each side, a retaining strap 46 being bolted to the lugs. A rebound spring 16 extends into a recess under the member 36, the necessary end clearance 50 being provided. Endwise movement is also prevented by a lug 37 on the main leaf entering a recess in the member 36. The end 14b of the leaf 14a is bent over to prevent separation of the leaves in the event of breakage of the main leaf.
