Abstract

397,951. Vehicle suspensions; laminated springs. CARY, Ltd., W. E., Red Bank, and NUTTALL, J. T., 636, Moston Lane, New Moston, both in Manchester. April 6, 1932, No. 9830. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii).] In laminated spring suspensions for vehicles comprising a main spring a and one or more auxiliary springs b which come into action when the load on the main spring is increased above normal, transverse plates e are secured to the upper leaf of each auxiliary spring and a U-shaped bolt d, Fig. 3, or two simple bolts d<x>, Fig. 5, pass through holes in each plate, the bolts d<x> also passing through a bored cross-bar e<x> below the main spring, and in order to vary the position at which the auxiliary spring or springs are brought into use nuts g are provided acting on helical springs g<1> abutting each plate e or each cross-bar e<x>.
