Abstract

481,425. Adjusting laminated springs. YATES, D. R. M. Jan. 19, 1937, No. 3279/36. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii)] In a laminated spring for use in vehicle suspensions the leaves are embraced by a strap or buckle 2 between which and the outside leaf two wedges 5, 6 are interposed and are embraced by a U-bolt 3 which passes through the buckle and carries a block 4 adapted to abut one wedge 6 so that tightening of the nuts 7 increases the compression of the leaves. The base 3<1> of the U-bolt bears against the other wedge 5. The invention may be employed on the buckle described in Specification 470,066.
