Abstract
474,995. Laminated springs. BEYER, C. June 20, 1936, Nos. 17203 and 17204. Convention dates, June 26, 1935 and Oct. 26, 1935. [Class 108 (iii)] In a laminated supporting spring for motor vehicles inserts 2 provided between the ends of the leaves 1 are pressed against the adjacent leaf-ends by a lowermost tensioning plate 4 which is connected at its ends to the ends of the uppermost spring leaf by adjustable clamping-devices 6, 7. As shown in Fig. 4, the inserts comprise wedges 2 held in position by means of links 10 secured to the wedges and to one end of a holding plate 8 which extends beneath the tensioning plate 4. In a modification, the links and plate 8 are omitted and the wedges riveted to one of the adjacent leaves. In another construction, Fig. 7, a single wedge 2 is inserted between the top and second leaves and is held in position by a spring-pressed bolt 6 which connects it to the tensioning plate 4. The leaves are bent abruptly at the end of the wedge and taper in thickness towards their ends. In a modification, the leaves are of uniform thickness.
