[[Class 12 (ii).] In a valve of the type specified in the parent Specification wherein a rotary disc is held on its seat by a spring, a groove or grooves for supplying lubricant to the working faces of the valve is or are isolated from a groove in the valve face which contains a toothed driving ring. The valve disc a is pressed on to seat b in the valve body c by a spring d and is rotated by a pinion g which co-operates with the toothed driving ring f located in a recess e in the valve disc. Lubricant is forced past a non-return valve o down the spindle i of the pinion g through a passage in the pinion housing to a chamber h, whence it reaches a groove or grooves k in the valve face by a passage l. Lubricant for the actuating mechanism is placed in the pinion housing when the mechanism is assembled. The grooves k may be connected by a short transverse passage between the ends of the recess e and an additional groove q in the boss of the disc may be connected to the grooves k by a passage in the disc a or in the body c. In a modification, the passage in the spindle i is used to convey lubricant to the driving mechanism, short transverse passages being provided in the spindle i above the pinion g. The lubricant for the grooves k in this case has access to the chamber h through a non-return valve located in the pinion housing below the chamber h.
