445,636. Rotary plug valves. AUDLEY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and LEACH, R. W., Avenue Road, Newport, Shropshire. Feb. 2, 1935, No. 3464. [Class 135] In a rotary plug valve a cylindrical chamber f, Fig. 2, containing lubricant and a spring- pressed piston g for forcing this lubricant through passages j, h to the ends of the plug b is arranged on one side or each side of the valve body. Fluid pressure from the line controlled by the plug may be admitted by a pipe q to the rear of the piston g in addition to, or instead of, the spring p. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, two pistons g are provided in the cylindrical chamber f, pressure being applied between the two pistons by a spring p and/or by the line fluid through a passage t to force the lubricant to both ends of the plug. Alternatively, the lubricant may be contained in the space between the two pistons and the spring and/or fluid pressure applied on the outsides of the pistons g. Specification 256,098, [Class 12 (iii)], is referred to.
