Abstract

<PICT:0372085/IV/1> <PICT:0372085/IV/2> <PICT:0372085/IV/3> Artificial silk as spun is wound on a bobbin d, Figs. 1 and 2, which is provided with a detachable member f of cruciform section having projecting edges g and accommodated in crossed slots e in the bobbin d. When the winding i is completed it is removed from the bobbin on the member f, Fig. 4, and while supported slackly is subjected to washing, deacidification, desulphurization, bleaching, drying, colouring, &c. The member f is formed of strips of metal, paper or the like, or wires secured by rivets. The treated material on the skeleton member may be placed on to a smaller slotted holder d for subsequent twisting or re-spooling.
