Abstract
305,980. Landeskroener, C. Feb. 13, 1928, [Convention date]. Grant of Patent opposed. Apparatus for making filaments. -For the washing, desulphurizing, decoppering, dyeing and other treatment of cakes of artificial silk, one or more of the cakes 5 which may have been tied in one or more places with threads 9, are supported on a rod 7 preferably of angular section, and are then treated with showers of washing, dyeing &c. liquid, the cakes during these treatments being moved by rotating the rod 7. The cakes are dried while still supported on the rod. After drying, the cakes are transferred without rewinding on to spools. To prevent shifting of the layers, the cakes are packed closely on the rod 7, and are held in position by strips 10, 11; and for the same purpose the lower ends of the cakes may be weighted by a rod 8 threaded through the cakes. 1'he Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes the production of cakes by rewinding of the silk originally collected in bobbins, for which purpose the bobbin 1, Fig. 2 (Cancelled) is mounted in an horizontal position above the centrifuge 4, the thread being led directly to the funnel 3; and it states that in order to facilitate rewinding the bobbin, the latter is sprayed with liquid, and the operation is carried out in a humid atmosphere; and further it refers to the unwinding of the dried cakes on to small reels, by means of which the silk can be transferred to spools for use. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
