Abstract

<PICT:0370666/IV/1> <PICT:0370666/IV/2> <PICT:0370666/IV/3> Artificial silk is spun continuously with its production on to a fabric arranged on a winding member and projecting over both ends of the winding member. After a convenient amount of silk has been wound, the ends of the fabric are wrapped over the artificial silk and the package is withdrawn from the winding member and subjected to washing, deacidification, desulphurization, bleaching, drying, or other treatment. For the readier withdrawal of the package, strips are laid on the winding member beneath the fabric prior to winding. The fabric may be in the form of a knitted tube. On completion of the after-treatments, the tubular fabric containing the spun material is mounted on a receiving member and after turning back the ends of the fabric, the filament may be withdrawn and respooled. The receiving member may be stationary or may be rotated and the filament twisted by overhead withdrawal. As shown in the drawings, a knitted tubular fabric b is placed over a winding member a and the filament c is wound thereon. For readier withdrawal of the package, crossed strips h are laid on the member a and connected together at one end by a ring i. The winding member is preferably made conical so as to facilitate removal of the wound package.
