Abstract

355,447. Patterned threads.' PROSSWIMMER, K., 17, Brauhausstrasse, Chemnitz, and SCHNEIDER, A., Thum, Erzgebirge, both in Germany. July 10, 1930, No. 20846. [A Specification was laid open to public inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 14, 1930.] [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii).] A patterned thread consists of two or more single or multicoloured spun or doubled threads combined into a single thread by being doubled or lapped with a third thread, the direction and degree of twist being varied at will by means of a hand-lever which controls the direction and speed of rotation of a twist tube producing the thread. Two spun threads I, II are passed through the sleeve a, Figs. 2 and 3, and round two pins i exterior to the tube, thence to a winding device k. By means of the hand-lever f, the sleeve a may be moved axially so that one of the cones c, cl engages one of the oppositely rotating whorls b, b<1>. By altering the position of the hand-lever f, the two threads may be twisted in opposite directions 1, 2, Fig. 1, or not twisted as at 3, or by threading the tube a so that one or more threads pass straight through whilst another thread passes round the pins i, a lapped thread is obtained as at 5 or 4 respectively. The threads are preferably treated with a binding medium such as water during twisting, and can be wound into hank form or directly into a cop.
