Abstract

Degummed and stabilized petrol is obtained by heating the vapours passing from a cracking plant before their final condensation to a temperature of 700-800 DEG F. under a pressure of 20-70 atmospheres for a period of 10 to 30 minutes. About 20 per cent of a higher boiling oil, i.e. the heavy ends produced in the process, may be added to the vapours before the treatment.
