Abstract

370,653. Ships' hatches. SWENY, W. H. P., 57, Old Road East, Gravesend, Kent, and GREEN & SILLEY WEIR, Ltd., R. & H., 130, Leadenhall Street, London. April 11, 1931, No. 10712. [Class 113 (i).] The hatch cover consists of two pairs of hinged leaves which abut in the centre of the hatch, the joint being protected by overlapping plates p. The outer leaves a of each pair are hinged at d to the hatch coaming, the inner leaves b carry the trolley wheels h which run along tracks g secured to the coaming. The cover which comprises girders which rest on landings l secured to the interior of the hatch, is opened by tackle secured to the outer plating of the hatch sections. The leaves, which fold inward so that the girders of one leaf come between the girders on the other half, are .secured in the folded position by a catch o.
