368,055. Change-speed gearing. HENRIOD, C. E., Areuse, Neuchatel, Switzerland. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 6265. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1930. Addition to 358,826. [Class 80 (ii).] The stepped planet gears d<2>, e<3>, f<3>, g<3>, Fig. 1, which are bolted together to form a block floatingly supported in cylindric cavities such as v, Fig. 2, in the thickness of a composite driving flywheel a, a<1>, a2, mesh with sun gears which are externallytoothed, instead of being internally-toothed as in the parent Specification. Sun gear d<1> is fast on the driven shaft d. Sun gears e, /, g are loose and connected by sleeves to brake discs e<2>, f<2>, g<2>, respectively. Highspeed solid drive is effected by locking the discs e<2>, f<2> by an expanding friction clutch h<2> operated through a lever h from a cam h<1> on a control shaft l. The shaft l carries pairs of jaws ml, m<2>, m<3> for gripping the brake discs and holding them against rotation. As the shaft l is turned, it effects reversal, neutral, two reduced forward speeds, and solid drive.
