A direction indicator for use on road vehicles comprises an indicating arm, with red glass n and piece of rubber m to prevent rattling due to wind or vibration, fixed by a cotter to the square end of a spindle a; passing through some part of the vehicle and rotated by a handle b. A pin on the spindle can slide in the upright position into a slot f in a metal plate under the action of a spring k between the indicating arm and the vehicle o, the plate being screwed to the inside of the vehicle and having a hole i through which passes the spindle a, and flange g for engagement with the pin to limit the angular movement of the indicator.
