Abstract

200,398. Woodward, M. Aug. 25, 1922. Road-traffic signals on vehicles.-A directionindicator comprises a revoluble disc 3 bearing letters S, R, L painted in luminous paint or otherwise formed, and visible when the disc is rotated through an aperture 14 in a casing 13 mounted above the number plate. The disc is turned through a pinion 4 and segment 5 by a cable 7, and returned by a spring 11, and is held in the operative positions by a pawl 12 which engages notches 3<a> and is controlled by trips a, b, c on a sliding plate 8 forming a link between the cable 7 and the segment 5. The signal may be illuminated by the tail-light, or by a separate lamp y.
