Abstract
332,980. Heaton, A. May 14, 1929. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. - Comprises superimposed inverted bowls a, b of which one a carries an indicating pointer h and rotates relatively to the other, and means for locating the movable bowl in predetermined positions. The bowl b is provided with a flange c secured to the roof d of the car. The bowl a is secured to a shaft g passing through the roof, the lower end of the shaft being provided with a spring m and an operating handle n in the form of a small hand. In operation the handle n is raised to disengage a locating pin j from one of a series of holes in the lower bowl and the signal is rotated to the desired position when the pin enters another hole. In a modification, the signal is fitted behind the windscreen of the car, a casing carrying the bowls being secured to the windscreen. Within the casing is an electric lamp and three contacts are adapted to be engaged by the pin j to illuminate the lamp.
