366,610. Cutting s t rip material. BRADLEY, D. A. Normandy House, Colney Hatch Lane, Muswell Hill, and COLE & MEAD, Ltd., 42, Wolfington Road, West Norwood, both in London. Nov. 11, 1930, No. 33985. [Class. 31 (i).] Guillotine machines.-In machine for cutting wire &c. into lengths the wire is fed from a reel 12 through spring-urged tensioning rollers 67 by grooved or plain feed rollers 30 to a cutting device 14. A constantly driven shaft 20 is geared to a cam shaft 80. An adjustable cam on the shaft 80, through a lever 96, operates a clutch fork 103 which connects the feed roller 30 with the shaft 20. The feed roller 30 cooperates with independent spring-urged idle rolls 54 for feeding a plurality of narrow or a single wide band. A cam 106 on the shaft 80 through a lever 108 operates the treadle of a guillotine or other cutting machine 14. The feed roller 30 is driven only when the follower 109 is on the low part of the cam. By adjusting the cam to vary the peripheral length of the hump the period during which the band is stationary and the length cut is varied. When the hump of the cam actuates the lever 108 the feed is stopped and a brake is applied to the roller 30.
