Abstract

Feeding webs.-In a machine for feeding and severing postage-stamps &c. from a roll a, the strip is fed, in a dished condition, along a troughshaped channel b by scoop-shaped wire grippers d which engage the perforations in the strip. An actuating rod c carries the grippers and a cam plate m. Forward movement of the rod feeds the strip, and on the rearward movement the cam m engages the end of a pivoted blade l coacting with the end of the channel to sever the stamp. The strip is held in its fed position by a spring. urged plate f acting upon one side of the channel..
