Abstract

365,834. Sleeve couplings. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd. and ASTLEY, J. W., Prescot, Lancashire. Feb. 14, 1931, No. 4681. [Class 38 (i).] A cable or rod 2 is secured to a coupling- member 3 or to a terminal &c. by means of a pair of annular wedges 4, 5 one being made of a metal of high conductivity, such as aluminium or copper, and the other of a metal of high mechanical strength, such as steel. The wedges are split and spaced apart to allow each to fit tightly between the cable and the tapered end of the coupling 3. In the case of a steel-cored cable the strands 1 of steel are secured as described in Specification 334,229, [Class 38 (i), Electric couplings &c.].
