Abstract
285,542. British Insulated Cables, Ltd., and Falconer, T. H. Nov. 12,1926. Sleeve couplings.-The ends 2, Fig. 4, of stranded electric cables are joined by insertion in a sleeve 4 which is thereafter indented at 6 by a tool which forces the indentations into the interstices of the strand. The sleeve 4 may be slit longitudinally either at the ends or the whole way so as to facilitate entry of the ends 2, or may be formed in two parts each more than a semi-circle in cross section. A suitable indenting tool is shown in Fig. 5. The cable and sleeve are held between dies 7<1>, 8<1> on the end of levers 7, 8 held together by an eccentric device 20, and then levers 12, 13 pivoted on the same pivot 9 as the levers 7, 8 are forced together, so that their coned ends 12a, 13a pass through apertures 7<a>, 8<a> in the dies and form the indentations in the sleeve.
