Abstract

365,802. Rotary pumps ; two-stroke engines. CENTRA HANDELS & INDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Quaderstrasse, Chur, Switzerland. Jan. 28, 1931, No. 2833. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1930. [Class 7 (ii).] In engines having a number of pistons 3 working with a common combustion chamber and driving on separate crank shafts which are coupled together by a frame 35, this frame carries or forms .part of the moving member of a rotary air pump. In one construction the pump comprises a cylinder 36, Fig. 1, carried by the frame 35 and working outside a smaller cylinder 38 fixed to the engine frame. A spring-pressed, guided slide 43 divides each cylinder into two chambers, the lower chamber 41 of the inner cylinder is connected to an air inlet and the upper chamber 42 to a chamber in the casing, surrounding the engine cylinders, the cylinder admission ports opening into this chamber. In a modification the pump comprises a square casing carried by the coupling frame moving about a fixed guide for a reciprocating slide, which divides the casing into inlet and delivery chambers. In another arrangement, the frame 59, Fig. 4, works inside a stationary casing 62, vanes 63 carried by the frame and sliding in guides 68 in the casing 62 dividing the device into three pumping chambers 64, 65, 66 ; flap valves 69 are provided for the air inlets and similar valves 71 for the delivery ports 72, these leading to the chamber 60 in communication with the air inlet ports of the engine.
