Abstract

419,123. Rotary engines. MARTIN, C. E., 1484, Urquiza, Rosario de Santa Fe, Argentine. March 24, 1934, No. 9313. Convention date, March 25, 1933. [Class 110 (ii).] A rotary engine (or compressor) of the gearedvane type comprises a piston P attached to a link C rigid with a shaft O, and a second piston P<1> secured to a link D having a sleeve D<1> loosely mounted on the shaft O. The piston P<1> is alternately accelerated and decelerated by means of a pinion F, carried by the link C, and a crank M coupled to the link D by a rod H. A sliding ring I, which may be secured to the piston P, covers an inside slot X in the cylinder A, except for the space left for the movement of the link D. In the case of an internal-combustion engine, inlets L, L<1>, and exhausts N, N<1>, are provided. In a second arrangement three pairs of co-operating pistons are arranged in the cylinder A, the gearing F, G, being duplicated. A modification comprises two parallel discs which support the links and pins of the pinions. Valves may be provided on the inlet and exhaust ports. Regulation may be secured by rotating the crown wheel G to another position with regard to the ports. Wood gas, steam, or compressed air may be used as fuel. The faces of the pistons may be non-radial. The space X may be positioned at the side or top of the cylinder A.
