Abstract

The concentration of cryolite by froth flotation is improved by adding to the suspension ions which are the same as those imparted to the solution by the mineral. In concentrating cryolite mixed with quartz gangue sodium fluoride is added to the suspension, sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate, potassium xanthate, pine oil and oleic acid being used as flotation agents.
