Abstract

Tall oil which has been wholly or partly saponified is added to the pulp in the flotation concentration of materials containing calcium carbonate, e.g. cement raw materials, the calcium carbonate being removed as a froth. The saponified tall oil acts as a combined collector and frother. Other reagents, e.g. oleic acid, may also be added.
